Are Handkerchief Safer Compare to Surgical Mask

Most of Indians wear Handkerchiefs on the face instead of Face Mask. Have you thought about why to buy a new mask if I already have hanky?

A little about Covid-19 spread

Covid-19 spread from the droplets that come out of our mouth. That can be stopped by placing any cloth in front of the mouth. It can help to stop the spread of COVID 19 if you are infected with it.

So then why to wear Surgical Mask or N95 Face Mask?

Wear Hanky can save others by filtering the air droplets but it can't filter the air droplets when we intake the air from our nose. Due to many reasons but the common one it fitting is not good. 

Wearing Hanky one from the bottom and contain the space side of the nose.

So for your better protection, you must go for Surgical Mask because it fits properly.

The disadvantage of the cover face with a handkerchief

People use Handkerchiefs for wiping their face, nose, and touches their Handkerchiefs frequently. So it became unhygienic to wear it on your face.

When you wear Handkerchiefs, it never fits properly. It loses many times.

Common way or wearing Handkerchiefs is by folding it and make it in triangular for and then tie two ends of it back of your head but the third end stays open from the thin that let to ventilation, which is not for in this pandemic.

Handkerchiefs can be folded only once and provide two layers of it. You must wear at least 3 layers to protect yourself

There are many types of masks that you can wear. A mask can be made of fabric, it can be disposable, or it can be a Medical Mask. 

A Face Mask should filter respiratory droplets and tightly cover your nose and mouth till your chin, with no space between them.
